Unlike a flood (which is emotional), wind represents the intellect, spirit, or 'pneuma.' A tornado is a violent, erratic swirling of these forces, indicating that the conscious mind is being whipped into a frenzy of overthinking, panic, or manic energy that is utterly ungrounded and highly destructive to the ego's peace.
This theme often arises when the dreamer's waking life is spinning out of control, perhaps due to a chaotic work environment, a volatile relationship, or a sudden influx of too many changes at once. The tornado touches down randomly, destroying some structures and sparing others, reflecting the unpredictable and capricious nature of severe anxiety.
