Dreams are the last truly private data. The app is built as if that were obvious: locked separately, shared only on purpose, and, if you want it that way, never leaving your phone at all.

A lock of its own
Separate from your phone's, using Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. It covers the journal on a cold start, whenever the app goes to the background, and even in the app switcher, so a borrowed phone doesn't mean a read journal.
Capture without unlocking
Night capture is write-only. It shows nothing already in the journal, so it can run before the lock has been passed, and the lock arms itself again on the way out. You can add a dream at 3 a.m. without ever exposing the ones already there.
Without an account, nothing leaves your phone
Every dream is written to your phone before anything else, and with no account that is where it stays: no server ever sees a word, a recording, or a photo. It is a complete journal, with search, insights, and export, that exists in exactly one place. The trade is that one place is your phone. If it is lost, broken, or wiped, the journal goes with it unless you have taken an export. Account or no account lays the whole choice out.
With an account, a copy that survives your phone
An account does two things. It keeps a synced copy of the journal, so a phone that ends up in the sea or at the bottom of a lake takes nothing with it and a new one picks up where the old one left off. And it opens the same journal on other devices, including the web app when it ships. It also starts a seven-day Pro trial, and with Pro the app reads each dream you save to tag its people, places, emotions, and symbols, name it, and paint its header; each of those is a switch in Settings if you would rather it didn't. Nothing else changes: the lock, the export, the absence of a feed. Deleting the account removes every copy held in the cloud; the journal on your device stays yours.
No feed, no prompts, no ads
There is no social feed, no sharing nudge, no dream wall, and no advertising, not now and not ever. Sharing exists only as something you do on purpose, one dream at a time. Interpretations and Luna happen only when you ask. The one thing that runs on its own is the tagging after a dream is saved, which needs an account and Pro, and which you can switch off in Settings, title, image, and tagging each on their own.
